At no other stage in life is imagination so important (and so active!) as when you’re young. That’s why the Byre is pleased to announce the launch of a new series of weekly creative arts and drama sessions for ages 0-4 year olds. Through a magical mixture of drama, creative play, arts and crafts, music and dance, early learners will get to engage their highly active imaginations, developing their social and interpersonal skills along the way. Imagination and creativity are key to the way children interact with and learn about their environment and the sessions will focus on encouraging young children to use these abilities in a fun and inventive way.

Byre Teenies sessions will be held 10 to 10.45am every Monday and run by the lovely Lauren Bianchi, the Byre’s Education Officer. Lauren is really excited about the Byre Teenies project and believes that fostering creativity at an early age can give a child a valuable head-start; ‘The Education & Outreach programme at the Byre is all about development and growth for learners of all ages through the creative arts. Very young children are often neglected in terms of providing creative workshops and rarely get to experience the fantastic benefits of learning through drama and other arts outside of nursery. Byre Teenies is all about encouraging young children to enjoy and use their imagination as a way of building confidence and curiosity in learning.”

The sessions are just as beneficial for parents and carers who can use the ideas they like and develop them at home. It’s also a great way to meet other parents, share tips, advice, and simply have fun being creative. The first session begins on the 23rd January where there will be creative games, storytelling, performance, imagining, exploring and a whole lot more. Along with the second session, Monday’s is a taster so all are welcome to come and see what Byre Teenies is all about. No guarantees that you won’t be obliged to join in though!
