The Byre Theatre of St Andrews Ltd is fully committed to the growth and development of young children through creative skills.

An industry leader in the development of creative skills through all ages, The Byre Theatre hosted the 'Creative Connections Fife: An Early Years Gathering' on Wednesday 25th May 2011.

This engaging free seminar was developed to look at sharing creative arts practice along with methods of introducing the expressive arts, imaginative play and language to support young children. Additonally it tackled the issue of how the arts can support Curriculum for Excellence and Fife's Early Years and Cultural Strategies. Participants had an opportunity to explore how using creative approaches and fostering aprtnerships can enhance children's learning and improve outcomes.

the seminar was hosted by Fife Council's Cultural Partnerships Team, working closely with both Fife's Early Years Strategy group and The Byre Theatre. Councillor Robin Waterston, Vice-Chair of the Education & Children’s Services Committee, Fife Council opened the morning with a welcome address, followed by Jacqueline McKay, Chief Executive of the Byre Theatre with a warm venue welcome.

In attendance were Childcare Providers, Early Years Educators, Artists, Theatre Makers, University Researchers and Policy Makers. Elements of the day were live streamed across glow and the morning programme offered a range of presenattions.
